I came across an old 1970’s Alsport Trike that was in a bad need of restoration. I thought it would be a fairly straight forward project and something for my then 13 year-old daughter to ride. I was able to do the fiberglass body restore and paint in under a week and then mounted a new 13 HP Predator engine. This is the part that I got completely wrong. Everything fit well together and the trike ran smoothly… Sort of. I had no idea how dangerous these trikes were and before I had the last taillight wired, my daughter took off in it and wrecked it. It was so badly damaged, that I was shocked and very thankful that my kid walked away without a bump or bruise. My mistake was putting in too powerful of a motor.
