As noted elsewhere in this site, my daughter is a big Harry Potter fan. She has been since she was a little kid and remains so today. When she got her drivers license, I had searched around for a gently used car that fit her style. I came across a Chrysler PT Cruiser that had very low miles and I knew would be easy to customize with a little paint and trim.

She had asked if I could incorporate a Harry Potter theme into it’s customization. So with very little effort, I 3D printed new badges and emblems for the car that said “HP Cruiser.” She received many complements on the car while she had it!

The sad ending of the HP Cruiser

I forewarned my daughter that the likelihood of her wrecking her first car was high. I told her if it does happen and she is in a collision, she needs to remain calm and keep in mind that it is just a car that can be replaced, she however cannot. I also noted that I have been in car accidents, so if it does happen, don’t be afraid of me being upset, that my main concern will always be for her safety and wellbeing and that I will not be upset.

Unfortunately, three months after painting and detailing out her HP Cruiser, a guy in a Jeep ran a red light causing an accident that led to the totaling out of my daughter’s car. She was so upset. When I got to the scene and I could see that she was physically okay, I said to her “let’s get some ice cream and talk about getting you a new car.” I felt so bad for her because she really loved this car.

The end of the HP Cruiser… Oh, well, it is just a car.
