My daughter outgrew her Rainbow play structure when she got to be 12, so we ended up dismantling and giving it away. I could tell that she was very sad to see it go, so I proposed to her that we construct a clubhouse of her very own where she could camp-out in with friends, use as an art studio and have it as a place to get away from mom and dad.
I asked her what she would like it to look like along with the features she would like incorporated into it. Her list included a loft to sleep in, a large chalkboard wall, drawing table, long seating bench that contained storage, a bookshelf, lots of windows and carpeting. I added electricity, air conditioning, heating, track lighting, a sound system and a secret storage area to her list. We ended up adding WiFi internet access a few years later.
The photos below showcase the final build. The building’s interior space was just under 300 square feet of usable space!
I am constantly on the lookout for top-notch blogs and this is one of them.
